Pitch Perfect 2 Review

Lezzbhonest. Pitch Perfect 2 was nothing like the first one. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed, there were some funny moments, but it didn’t nott live up to my expectations. And maybe that’s part of the problem. A friend of mine did point out that he had zero expectations for the first one, as did I, and ended up loving it. And then when the second one came out, huuggee expectations, and ended up disappointed.

Nonetheless, here’s what I didn’t like about it. First of all, the songs, the covers they sang. Um where were all the songs from the radio? In the first movie, they did some awesome covers including Titanium, Bulletproof, Party in the USA, Just the Way You Are, Just a Dream, Price Tag, Give Me Everything… you get the point. I love that when I hear these songs on the radio they make me think of Pitch Perfect!! But the covers in the second movie were totally lacking. I doubt there will be any songs I hear on the radio that make me think of the second movie.

And that brings me to my next point. The final set. Ugh. Awful. An original? Like what? Totally ruining it. The original was not good and not catchy and not upbeat and just a total buzzkill. Definitely made the ending anticlimatic.

Lastly, the plot was generally the same. They hit all the same points in the first that they did in the second. Here we go. Both movies started with a great performance, which quickly spiraled downward until they couldn’t compete. They struggled to find a solution and worked with what they had. There was a riff-off. Their first performance failed miserably. They all got mad at each other and yelled and sh!t and then they made up by singing. Then they did the final performance and won. Same plot.

Oh and Jessie was barely even in the second movie…
